Transform Bonus (Magic) on my tonfa made sure that I didn't lose out on damage. You could use Ho-oh or Yumehani (the latter of which requiring some shuffling of Core choices to make them all fit) if you're more comfortable with Phantom burst counters.įor DotW, I went for 150 Magic because I love my buffs and Ultimate Magic is great. My guardian spirit was Ho because I prefer the brute Burst Counter, with Ippon-Datara, Nuppeppo, and Tate Eboshi soul cores. In addition, I used Lifeseal Talismans, because they completely negate human bosses' you drain their ki once and the battle is over (especially useful in duels-shoot them in the head and zap them while they're on the ground) I carried two so I could reapply during combat and keep the pressure on.

I ran Purity on my tonfas, had Active Skill Ki Damage on my scroll, and had the usual round of buffs for ninjutsu (Quick-Change, Tiger-Running, Catwalking, and Sneak Thief scrolls plus bombs to deal with slimes) and onmyo (Extraction, Barrier, Archyokai, Resistance, Waterstop, Firestop, Lightningstop). Oni Shibata (secondary weapon and helmet), 1-pc. Yoshiie's Birthright (gauntlets and greaves), 3-pc. My best DotD build was:Ħ-pc Benzaiten's Grace (main weapon, both ranged weapons, Veteran's Cuirass and Waistguard), 3-pc. Therefore, when you get to DotD, Benzaiten's Grace becomes a strong recommendation. Tonfas stand out as one of the best weapons to use with Versatility, since you can easily build up to nine stacks without having to do a bunch of weapon switching. The best of the bunch are Royal Tonfas and Martial Artist's Tonfas, with inherent Melee and Active Skill Ki Consumption, respectively, but you'll have to pray to RNG to get Imbue Purity or Imbue Corruption on the weapon and that makes it one step harder to get good star rolls like Mystic Dyad(Tonfa), which is very useful owing to both Mystic Arts being very good, or Melee Ki Damage. One thing to be aware of with Tonfas is that the ones that have built-in Purity and Corruption suck: they all have inherent Damage-category attributes that prevent you from tempering Attack Bonus (Stat). Ah, my favorite weapon, the spinny sticks of ki destruction.
